Hi Ted,

I doubt it is related to your connection status last session. You likely have dozens (if not hundreds) of programs that will automatically connect to the internet if you let them and it all depends on your settings. For example, Windows may be set to check for automatic updates weekly. If you reboot and more than 7 day have passed, it will trigger the dialup sequence. Adobe will do the same, again depending on the settings. Antivirus software will do this a lot if you let it.... and so on...

If you get terribly annoyed by this, you could probably change settings to prevent this, but you may also be preventing good updates from getting downloaded.
