Subject: Frost damaged corn and two weeks

Nevada, Iowa
On Mother's Day we had frost here, as did many, I'm sure. I don't have many neighbors that feel they were affected but I have been watching some corn closely. It did seem to affect higher residue levels and my worst fields were high residue. Low lying areas were the worst, of course. I picked a badly affected area and an average affected plant and shot photos of it 4 times this week. No real set time but the lapse runs from Sunday to Sunday. The first week after the frost was a wash due to very wet and cold conditions. This week shows good improvement. What the final outcome will be, remains to be seen. I do feel that there was 1-2% of the stand lost. The damaged leaves seemed to fuse together and that has been the main concern for me this week. I don't know if this is normal for after a frost or if the wet, cold weather caused this phenomenon. Today, I am comfortable with my decision not to tear up and replant areas. Time will tell if that has been wise. Hopefully pics will be attached. Edit: This field was planted April 13th and has been continuous corn for 8 years.
