| Rich, years ago I was given some 4 foot Kenwood speakers. Great speakers, so I rigged them up to my computer. Problem was that the sound card didn't have enough drive to get good sound out of them. Imagine playing a computer game with the sound from them. I went to Radio Shack and bought a cheap audio amplifier. This amplifier has a switch for three different inputs, knobs for power, Bass, and Tone and a volume knob. I put the audio into it and out to the speakers and it has great sound, plus the volume you would like....at times. My son has gotten into music and he found playlist.com so he treats it similar to a stereo.
You can buy powered speakers for a computer which give you much better volume and the audio is OK, but if you want loud audio and great sound, buy some larger speakers and an amplifier. | |
