| I've used live bootable CD's. All you need to do in the BIOS is set the boot sequence to boot from the CD/DVD drive first. Do not disable the HD.
If you want more speed, make a bootable Linux USB thumb drive - and set it to boot from USB device first.
The neat thing about this is, you do not need to change anything in the BIOS to go back to booting from the HD. Remove the CD or thumb drive and power up the system. It will check the optical drive and/or USB, if nothing bootable is there, it will proceed to boot from the HD. | |
