There is an alternative approach which may make sense for the long haul. Buy a wireless router with USB ports for a printer(s) and a hard drive(s). Easy to share printers across machines and the HD can store common documents/pictures and serve as a back-up drive for your computers. Set-up is easy, no wires and easy changes in the future.
