I don't know anything about ipods, but is there a setting in your Itunes that would allow you to sync from your ipod to your PC? With my PDA, I can set up the syncing where the PDA will overwrite the PC, the PC will overwrite the PDA, or they will sync and duplicate everything. There has got to be a setting somewhere that would allow your ipod to overwrite your PC....I'm sure others have had their PC's crash and still have their ipod.

A quick net search suggests that what I said above is not possible without using third-party software. This is one of the first articles I found:
