Casual observer - 10/4/2009 21:17 Omar; thanks for the reply. I have to have the individual records in the spreadsheet before the final arrangement above the records joined by the / mark. All records have a "serial number" as well that is generated before they are added to the spreadsheet. Usually the I remove duplicates from the joined records, then split the joined records on the / mark then run a pivot to tell me how many of each single records I need to add.

I'm still not fully following what your final layout needs to be, or even what you are starting with. If you could post a sample spreadsheet (with a before and an after sheet), I'd be happy to look at it. Or, send me an email if you are open to that.

You mentioned removing duplicates. One way to accomplish that is to do an advanced filter with the list copied to another place (choosing unique records only). Or, 2007 has a Remove Duplicates command that might be interesting, but I've never used it.
