I think the most RAM that I've seen a mobo able to handle is 24GB (6x4096MB sticks), when I built my last desktop in March the vast majority of mobos were only able to handle 8GB some 16GB and very few 24GB, probably shifted up now. Now if only we could get the price of the 4GB sticks down some more...
with regards to the mention of HDD size it would be nice to know why the manufacturers went away from the proper nomenclature... and it's not just HDDs either, it is also deviating in bandwidth, I seem to be finding more and more things that show kB when they mean kb and MB where they mean Mb and mb where they mean Mb... uppercase for M mega- (no such thing as a milli- bit or byte so not sure where mb came from) G giga- T tera-, lowercase for k kilo, kilo- and Mega- bits per second for speed, not Bytes.
