Installed a USB Brother MCF 420 CN on an HP work book. It will not print until after rebooting the computer.

Any ideas as to what I need to look at to make it print when we want it to? lol

edit: more info. It's a multi function printer/copier,scanner/fax machine. All other function work when asked. It just wont print until after a reboot. 

Laptop is HP/Compaq mobile workstation model 8710W, windows XP Pro. Intel Centrino dou core and what not. It's about 2 months old.
