I just had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical one 10 days ago. Consisted of open heart surgery and a 6 day hospital stay. Some days were easier than other but hopefully we are on the good side and will not have to deal with the shortness of breath and fatigue. Because of putting a mechanical valve in I will have to be on blood thinner for the rest of my life. Last thing doc told me was should’ve done it 5 years ago. One advice I was given often was don’t wait until you end up in the ER because you will have damage we can’t fix then. Best wishes!!
