The early M&W turbo kits included an orifice to restrict the fitting into the pump to stop that problem. But plugging it off works, that pump is a holdover from the 2-cylinder era. Don't need it. I remove the idler gear that drives it and block off the oil passage. Gives better oil pressure which it needs with the turbo.
