It is mixed up because it's a 'modified live' product. Once mixed, they recommend it be used within 1 hour. If you had a 10-dose box for instance, anything not used within an hour or so should be thrown away. The individual doses are a little higher cost per dose, but the better way to go if you have only one or a few to do at a time.
