Subject: RE: catch pen design/size

North Central Kansas
My brother built a pen on one of his sections las fall. The main pen is 60x100. On the S side there are two 16’ wide sorting alleys. They have a 16’ alley on each end. The east alley has a gate into the main pen and on the other end it narrows down to a 10’ gate that we load stock trailers and our ground loader. We gathered 110 pair last fall and hauled them. It worked great. We like the 16’ alleys for sorting. The cattle don’t seem as nervous.

The main pen was more than adequate for 110 pairs and would hold more. We sorted the cows off and hauled the calves and then the cows. We also have a Linn Post and Pipe tub to add on the west alleyway. It was at the old corral at this pasture.
