Le Sueur VIA St.Thomas | I like the idea of a laptop, but I need a desktop. I have a dual monitor setup w/30" and 20" monitors; I doubt you could get a lapto w/ those specs. I like a real keyboard and a real mouse as well. That said, I think a laptop would be good for household use; do bills from the couch, surf the net from the patio, etc.
Laptops will evolve to the point where heat, batteries, reliability issures are not an issue. At that point, I will have a wireless monitor, keyboard and mouse at my desk which will all interface with the laptop, replacing the tower. I will also have wireless NAS with all data backed up. That way, when the laptop falls from your lap and gets chopped up by the lawnmower, only the laptop is lost.
