If you run them really slow you can run into overheating issues, because the fan inside the motor isn't moving enough air.


Industrial motors are available with a separate motor for the fan, like an overgrown computer power supply fan. Motor has thermal sensors and the VFD spools up the fan motor to control the temperature. I have a couple used ones on the shelf that are set up this way.
