I feed salt, no mineral to mine and get along fine. They aren't on fescue all summer since after 1st or 2nd cutting I'll fence off hay field to let them graze and have them on same hay field for calving, maybe this helps. Will also set out old bales of hay for them to eat will on fescue, this helps dilute amount of fescue in them.
