Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa | and annual report came in the mail today. After studying the proxy report for an hour, I have learned that:
1) Bill Gates' Cascade Investments owns 9.8% of Deere and Company's outstanding shares.
2) Vanguard Group owns 7.2% of Deere's outstanding shares.
3) After I am dead and gone, I hope to be re-incarnated as one of the following, listed in order of preference:
a) Deere and Company Chairman and CEO
b) any of Deere's top 4 Executive Officers
c) I would even settle to just be on the Deere Board of Directors.
Disclaimer: Granted, the bar charts show that Deere has been doing better each of the last three years regarding net sales and income and dividends. Also, my small and aging line up of machinery out in the machine shed probably has a greater % of green paint and leaping deer emblems than most farms, so please don't take this as a Deere Bashing Post, but, my goodness, those guys and gals are certainly well compensated for their efforts.
