Not a huge bill, but we have a bill submitted right now for over 10K. We have had @3 claims so far with them and so far the problem we are having is that the hospital will not give us bills that are itemized. CHM requires an itemized bill so they know exactly what was done, and what their members are paying (sharing). This is totally responsible and should be an automatic thing anyway, however the hospital fights us for 2-3 months or more to give us the necessary paperwork to submit to CHM. We just sent the paperwork in on the latest claim last week, and the hospital stay was middle of October. When we finally get the right person at the hospital, they hit print and it's done. It's ridiculous really. Only problem with CHM then, is they usually take 5 more months, after they receive the paperwork, to actually pay the bill. This wouldn't be a big deal if the provider would give you the correct paperwork as you are walking out the door, not wait 3 months and expect payments while they decide how to push print. Negotiating is done by you, not CHM as far as I am aware. Claims so far have been paid in full so far with no deductible. As for prescriptions, we had one the other day that was $90 taken down to $13 using GOOD RX card. Not sure how that works on more expensive prescriptions.
