Thanks for the update. At our age, I don't think any major injury will completely heal or at least feel as good as before. In my quest for pain free feet, I visited a doctor in Omaha who put it like this. "You can get around as you need, you will never get around as you did."
Keep searching for relief, I hope you find some.
