I have seen in early March, they will use those tracts to spread fertilizer with a rear mounted hopper spreader on a tractor. We usually travel the Cologne, Dortman to Berlin route. Don't know about digestors, but the hog barns look like they are not being used, they are, Germans just keep it so clean.
