Subject: RE: First piece of machinery you ever bought

I bought a 1992 Arts-Way 500A 4 ton grinder mixer with a scale and hyd lift and swing on the unloading auger for $2500 in the fall of 1999 after everyone had been losing lots of money feeding hogs for a year.

We had been looking for a newer grinder/mixer for a while and I had been outbid on a couple 2.5 ton mixers at auction.  I never could have imagined how lucky I was to not get any of those for much more money.

That 500A probably was the most profitable piece of equipment I've ever owned or will ever own.   I owned it up until 2016 and it ground somewhere in the neighborhood of 30,000 tons of feed while I had it.
