Texas/New Mexico Stateline | It is a shame.
If I start an "investment" company and dupe people into giving me millions of dollars, for the chance of making huge returns, and I only pay out 1 out of 250 million, I would go to jail. We have a name for that, it is called a ponzi scheme.
Or if I build a casino on my farm, and bus in senior citizens to strip them of their social security payments every month, I would be shamed out of existence. And probably go to jail too.
But if the state dreams up these false hope schemes they are considered a benefit to society because it is for "education" and "harmless fun" and "entertainment".
Double standard?
