Not politics, local support is where the money difference. When our daughter had reserve FFA market lamb, she rounded up close to $15000 support from local businesses and friends. Her lamb set a new record at that time because of her efforts to garner donations from outside the Iowa State fair of champions sale board. All donations are used in the sale, so, if a person with a animal in the sale has an active donations campaign to raise donations, the selling price of their animal is more.
And, no we did not donate to her sale fund campaign. She and her two sisters spent every free hour they had, from show time until sale time , on the phone or in the car asking for support.
Does all the local support get recognized for their donations during the Sale of Champions? If not that's kind of a crock. Hyvee or whoever gets all the glory and locals get to write a check? Correct me if I'm incorrect please. |
