Subject: Turkey litter stockpile odor

Mn
I had some turkey litter piled on one of my fields to be spread after the corn is off. The odor is a little stronger than I'd like (or my neighbors would like). I was told that after a week it will crust over and the odor would be minimal. Is that true? Is there anything I could do to reduce the odor if it doesn't improve? Would a tarp or plastic be feasible or effective? My neighbors are good, just trying to be a good neighbor myself.
