I just finished winter barley earlier than I ever did (10 days early). Yield wasn't a total disaster but 20% under expectations. 11% moisture is not a number that I see often, too. We had extremely dry air and wind the last days. That also killed our wheat that did not look too bad until last week. I can confirm several fires, too. A recycling yard with LOTS of plastic waste stored on it burnt down saturday. That was a spectacular smoke cloud to be seen from our hills. They better had not collected all that plastic but burnt it in a power plant right away...
