I feed 12 quarts which is just under your 12L/day. I only feed 2x day with no problems usually. Whole milk not pastuerized. At 2 months I cut back to 6 qts/day for the last month. Works great! I'd put my calves up against anybody else's. One thing I did see mentioned is that they can take some stress when they are healthy and pull right through it.
