Subject: RE: Soil test rec?

Polk City IA
Determinate hybrids are more tolerant of higher levels ok K in the soil solution. Flex hybrids will overload on K when levels are high in the soil solution. To some hybrids K is like sugar. Too much is not a good thing. It plugs the phloem and xylem and leads to weak stalks late season.

It can take a while to lower K levels and improve the overall nutrient balance. The ability to move water through the profile is what helps. Tile and gypsum are two very good tools.

One other thing the use of gypsum will also help with is the high levels of Na showing on your soil test.

Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any other questions or want to visit with a gypsum supplier.
