In the fall of 2005 all local storage was full. There was no barge traffic going south from St Louis because of Hurricane Katrina. I was down to my last 40 acres of corn and nowhere to go with it. Local elevator found storage somewhere and they were paying $1.37 per bushel. Those were the good old days!


Yes, somehow everyone forgets 2005 when talking about low corn prices.

That fall the corn here didn't dry well, and paying to have it dried would completely wipe out any chance of making money. Margins were slim, to say the least.
