Subject: RE: Combine owners having repair shop do work?

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
I send mine in for the winter inspection and repair. I also have someone from the shop come out maybe a couple of times per year for a service call. I'm 100 miles from the shop so the mileage does get a little expensive but on the other hand they are here in 2 hours vs. me having nearly a 4 hour drive then have to fix it myself.
I'll fix some things but call on other things. Just depends what it is. I'm not real mechanical and don't claim to be and time is important. They can be a lot faster making repairs when they know how to get something apart and put it back together properly. A few times I have done something myself then had to do it again because I didn't do it right. That can get expensive too.
Doing your own repairs is not for everyone.
