The kicker is that there is a whole lot more advanced technology and reliability in my $600 iPad vs this $3,600 Greenstar monitor I'm staring at. We have grain cart scales that work off Bluetooth and and iOS app. I dare say it's the most reliable and user friendly device on the farm.
The truth is the JD and the others know they have a captive market and can screw the hell out of us for inferior technology because it's the only technology available. Don't know if tech modernization will ever come to Ag in the same way it has come everywhere else. They could easily develop Bluetooth transmitters and program an app to control any implement. Plus it would be easily updateable and adaptable to many setups.
A lot of it has to do with an agricultural machinery company trying to make computers and provide software. Just imagine if Apple tried to make a combine.......
Well, on second thought, at least it would look cool.
