take your Krause and replace the twisted shovels with straight narrow ones, you can go 4" deeper with the same hp.


I had the same thought as well. We have straight points on a chisel we use to rip bean ground and it works well for that. It doesn't cover hardly any residue in corn stalks though so we don't use it for fall corn ground.


I was able to take it into corn ground and make it threw 200bu residue. My plots have to be deep worked every year somehow as the 4 row setup and deadman back causes compaction that would cause errors in the data. So I do all tillage, fertilizer, and spraying crossways of the trials.

A second chisel with strait points might be an option.

I was thinking the ripper would go deeper might be a better idea. I've got till fall and starting the idea and figuring out what to do time. Might be best to have one of everything if money was no object as each have a situation they are better in.
