south east iowa | I will preface by saying I have farmed through the 80's. I watched my folks struggle to hang on to what they had and try to help me get started in what I always wanted to do, farm. It took a toll on my dads health. 3 years ago my wife was diagnosed with cancer and passed a year ago. I guess the point I am trying to make is health, family and faith should trump all of the other issues in your life. Farming or not farming is not the end all in life. When a person learns these lessons you tend to grin a little when you hear and read all the gloom and doom, because you know in the end you have your priorities in order and there is no use worrying about the small stuff. | |
