South central kansas | KC wheat the only positive is hearing some reports of wheat being mixed into cattle rations out west, but the only real hope for KC wheat is a freeze scare in later March or April, wheat out of dormancy here in extreme South central kansas earlier than normal.
The US dollar needs to come down for wheat to be competitive, but with the US Fed. taking a hawkish stance at this time, see no reason at this time for it to go substantially lower.
Over the longer term, if La Nina becomes established this winter, say Nov. Dec. january 2017 timeframe, chances become greater that HRWW yields will be below trend in 2017, but as always time will tell. |
