n.c.iowa | joel, I don't really have a answer for that, an opinion yes, but a real fact based answer, no. i just really don't know if general insurance principles can be applied to ag crop production, i mean my operation will get along fine if some houses on the coasts, or wherever natural calamities seem to lurk, are destroyed, feel bad for them yes, but doesn't affect me and my operation directly. i do believe in those areas they do pay a higher property insurance premium, and rightfully should.
but it's pretty tough for a corn grower in Arkansas to pickup his operation and move it to ill. or iowa.
also from a grain supply security standpoint, it would seem to be counter intuitive to concentrate all of the production in a small productive area. i know as a livestock producer in 2012 i was glad to have those areas on board. |
