Biggest thing will be temperature, last year I panicked wanted to terminate, sprayed with round up and then got cool wet, I got 50 % kill, had to hit it again. Neighbor waited, rye was at least knee high, sprayed it, planted green and within 5 days was dead. Have rye again this year and will not even try to terminate until close to planting.
