Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't RoundUp cost a lot more when it first came out ? I'm thinking in the 80's when it was used to cleanup quack grass . I thought we were spending over 50 an acre to kill quack grass . And my earliest memory of patented seed was Pioneer Wheat varieties .
