| Hey GoldenGopher, im from titan trailers in southern Ontario and we build 100% welded aluminum trailers, we spend countless hours engineering our frames to ensure longevity, we don't build a tandem but sometimes i wish we did!
On a tandem i wouldn't worry to much about an aluminum sub frame, multi axles are a different story, with increased stress due to maxing out steer axles turning angles and having that extra primary on the ground you may want to consider the engineering Little more closely.
things i would consider
metal to aluminum connections: over time this can cause problems with electrolysis especially in the snow belt
weld quality of aluminum component: aluminum is a great alloy, when put together correctly it can trump steel 95% of the time
rivet connections: i don't know much about rivets but from what i do know your joints are open to salt/debris over time this can cause some issues
