From happening, I doubt it. From continuing, yes there is.

He needs to stand up to them and lay them out. It might take a few years to do it, and he may need to get into wrestling or martial arts to accomplish it too.

I had a bully liping off to me one time at the fair in front of the girl he was trying to impress. He was about 4" taller and 50# heavier. I had him laying on the ground in no time with what I learned in wrestling. He didn't screw with me any more either.

This whole society is getting too squishy when it comes to this stuff. Instead of confronting the problem like I did above kids are told that no fighting period will be tolerated. Then after years of being picked on that "quiet kid" brings a gun to school and makes a national tragedy out of it.
