We had both 45&55's we didn't touch the engine until the 18,000 - 20,000hrs mark. The major engine issues were they would eat the fan belts like crazy.

The transmission would go out around 12,000 hrs and that is a $30,000 job.

The biggest issue with the transmission is if a little wire gets loose the thing will start and steer but won't go into gear. The other issue is if the dash goes out the thing won't move.

We would pull an AC 600 3 shank pull ripper down about 30" deep. We also had a number of tillage tools such as a Wilcox performer for raised beds.

The only problems were we had was when we tried to use on transplanters with 500 gallon water tanks the belts would make too much dust. The other problem was pulling a landplane. When you got to the end of the row many times you couldn't turn while pulling a full bucket with only one belt pulling.

Belts work best in straight line pulls where you can raise the implement to make a turn.
