I'm not an expert and I'm in Illinois so take my advice for what it's worth. Your local climate has everything to do with what you will be able to plant in the time frame you've set. Here it would be getting a little late for annual ryegrass so cereal rye would likely be the only grass that would work, unless you want to use wheat. Cereal rye could have some negative impact on a corn crop. You will need some time in the spring for any legume to produce much nitrogen as well. If you can't find a local seedsman or cover crop enthusiast in your area, you might try re-posting your question on here with your location in the thread title.
