northeastern Ohio | Since so many suggested barley, I'll start a new barley thread here.
Planting date? When is the best time? Does the fly free date matter? I would be planting after corn silage harvest (end of Sept most years) and after early soybeans are harvested (sometimes as late as the first week of Nov).
Does it make more straw or less straw than wheat?
What is a normal barley yield?
And of course: what varieties are recommended?
My grandpa used to grow some, but that was 40 years ago. I don't know of anyone that still plants it in my immediate area. | |
