I hoe them out, but I don't know if pulling or hoeing is better. I've pulled them before and left them on the ground and actually saw a few of them sink roots again after they were pulled. If the beans are big enough I like to leave them lay on top of the beans after I pull them to dry them out before they hit the ground...but that's just a theory, maybe they still try to sink roots after they dry out and hit the ground again. I've about given up on getting them this year. I don't have a lot of marestail but it's too muddy to even walk fields very efficiently right now. I say get a little handheld propane soldering torch and scorch 'em, I don't know if it would really kill them but it might take out some of your frustration and make you feel better.
