Subject: How Deep are You Cultivating Soybeans?

Farming in NW Iowa
I do some cultivating soybeans for myself and a neighbor I also harvest for. The trouble is my IH 183 12 row works nice in corn, but is going probably too deep in the soybeans. I've adjusted the gauge wheels down too, may need to go more. I also have a 6 row WilRich with adjusting cranks for depth. If I go too deep with the cultivator when harvesting the combine tires ride in between the rows and being lower the head tips back and doesn't cut the beans very short. If I adjust the feeder house forward when I use it in non cultivated beans it pushes dirt and root balls. I've tried going diagonally across the rows but it's not much better.
If you just scratch the surface with the sweeps it's not even worth being out there.
What are you using for cultivators? I have an old s tine Wetherell but they won't hardly go into the ground.
