| I would go ahead and plant. In 2008 I planted on June 22 and still got 48 bushel. I'm in east central Iowa not far from I-80 so my frost date is probably close to yours. I will admit conditions were pretty good in 2008 after I planted.
I also tried some beans in 2012 on July 2nd behind some wheat. We got an inch of rain right before we planted so had moisture to sprout them. But as you know we were very dry that year and they didn't grow real fast. In August we started getting some rain and they finally got some height to them. Then on Sept. 21 we got a killing frost. That is about 3 weeks early for frost here. The beans were still green of course and I didn't harvest them until Halloween. They only yielded 16 bushel to the acre. I believe I could have got around 30 bushel without the early frost. The next killing frost we had was at least a month later. They were a little bigger than BB's. | |
