Well, the govt is paying a big chunk of the premiums, not all you or me, so its fair to have people grumble about it? Heavily subsidized insurance.......

Back in the day a farmer farmed, and that was how it was, you worked hard and got ahead, you planned for a rainy day, and it worked.

Now things are different, and that is progress, and it is inevitable.... Farms like any business will get bigger, that is normal progress.

But programs like PP are counter productive to what a country needs, and are ripe for easy fraud. These programs stuff off risk, which allows farms to get drastically bigger drastically faster - that isn't normal or typically desirable.

Change happens and I've always been a part of it.

Programs like PP are a bad deal, long term, for many reasons, but it is where we are at, and what folks have to work with. Can't blame individuals for using such programs.

Would take too long, have to write a book, but really PP is exactly what is wrong with agriculture and government.......

So, I will grumble against it, even tho I understand its here and how many think it should be.

The govt messed up when they tried using food for a weapon with embargoes, and the world noticed and said the USA can't be depended upon for food.

And the govt wants to control the world ecconomy and have a high USA dollar value, which is counter to exporting raw commodities such as grains.

Together, such govt action really messes up USA ag ecconomy, and so the govt has to 'get involved' to save ag in the USA....

And so we have more dumb ideas, like subsidised PP insurance, and the like.

I don't have a good answer, but PP never has been or will be a good answer either.....
