| Sometimes, as adults, we are so thankful for the babysitting help that we tend to overpay. Having that babysitter might have allowed us to get a much-needed, but rare night out. Or it allowed us to attend an important adult-only function. Or finally go to an over-priced concert that you've been wanting to see for months. Or a college buddy's wedding dance. In many of these instances, you are SO thankful that you'll throw that teenage girl $100 or something -averages pretty good per hour even if you do stay out late. In some ways, we are actually hurting teenagers by paying them this much. I did hear a teenage girl scoffing at her 20 yer old brother who is putting himself through college by working an hourly retail job. "You only make $9.75 per hour? I can make WAY more than that babysitting. I'm never going to get a real job." | |
