We vaulted our living room only and its an "L" part off the kitchen/dining room - open concept. We have 8' walls and its high enough that the extended ceiling fan is higher than 8' yet. No acoustical issues since the living room portion is only 16 by 20. I do like the way it opens up that area of the house. I would do it again.
