Something I did for above the cupboards in the kitchen. After a good cleaning, I take wax paper and line the top of the cupboards then put your decorations up there. Besides dust, there can be some greasiness up there too. When you want to clean, all you have to do is carefully roll up the wax paper and put some new up there. No scrubbing necessary up there.
