Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS | I know it's not nearly as big, but I had the same problem on a riding mower. I believe the hoods are made of the same material. I went to the parts place and got a can of "Bondo." The hole I repaired was probably 5 or 6 inches by 3 inches. I used a piece of cardboard to hold against the back side of the hole, put a piece of wire mesh over the hole for extra strength, and proceeded to fill up the hole with the Bondo. I sanded the outside down smooth but haven't painted it yet. I'm going to wait to see if it holds up. So far I have run the mower for about 3 1/2 hours and it hasn't vibrated loose yet.
Note: The Bondo I got is not labeled for use on plastic, but it seems to work so far. |
