A 2012 Duramax has a hand primer? Isn't that kinda '80s? I would think it has an electric fuel pump in the tank or along the frame. I does sound like it has a bubble in there somewhere though. Our 280 will do the same thing until it's warm enough it'll keep running.
They have never had lift pumps. Never the need either
